My tummy is full from eating at the Sigfried's, which is the fine dining restaurant at George Brown. I had won a $60 gift certificate a couple of months ago, and I had planned to use it earlier, but just forgot about it. Anyways, I went with Jenno for dinner, and overall it was really good. There were some funny things going on, like our waiter, who couldn't speak english, and therefore had some trouble when I told him I'd have the asparagus appetizer. He just went, "Uuummmmm....." for a few seconds before I repeated that I'd have the asparagus appetizer. Then he snapped out of it and was alright for a while. Then, while we were absolutely in the middle of eating our main course, he came and tried to take Jenno's plate away. She wasn't even halfway done. He was constantly staring at us too, to make sure that if we needed him, he'd be picoseconds away. And he brought the fresh pepper for our entrees about 5 minutes too late. In any case, it was good eats. It was fine dining alright. I can tell when something is supposed to be fine dining, becuase they take something regular, like veal risotto, and make it weird. They had this thing on top of the veal that looked like bacon, but was actually minty, or pepperminty, or something like that. I recognized the flavour, but I can't place it. In any case, that and the weird potato-skin tasting thing on my dessert plate were definite signs that they had taken simply veal and fruit pie and made them weird, which is the mark of fine dining. We even got some complimentary glasses of red wine because the manager wanted to apologize for the noise from a group dinner that was going on for the board of directors of George Brown. We gladly accepted. Overall, it was pretty good. I can see how the students learn lots from working there, because they're pretty much responsible for everything. I'd give it a B+, because I'm not picky and not spoiled by eating at amazing restaurants too often.
Otherwise, I'm doing basically nothing at work. I sit around, looking sharp as usual, and don't even pretend to do work. Today I cleaned up my desk area and finally made it look like a proper work area. And tomorrow, when my voicemail kicks in, you guys can leave messages for me to check so that it looks like I'm busy following up with clients. I'll be starting at RBC next week too, so I'll have more to do, which is good. And I'll finally be gainfully employed, rather than just employed.
Here's to frappuccino's and summer. They go together like belly buttons and lint.
