You know how they say there are 2 things that you can count on: death and taxes? Well, you can add stupidity to that list and make it 3. Apparently Virgin Airlines was going to install women's-lips shaped urinals into a lounge at JFK airport. Apparently many people rightly complained about it. Their communications guy said that they can assure people that they never intended any offense by doing this.
Right. People never intend to offend other people. I don't think I've ever, in my long, quarter-century lifetime, heard anyone actually admit that something they'd done was offensive. I've heard the "I never inended for it to be offensive" or the "if it offended you, I'm truly sorry" ala Justin T, or various mixtures of both of those. Nobody has ever said, "Ya, what I did was offensive, and I'm sorry." Even when people say they are sorry, why should we even believe them? Mike Tyson said he was sorry for all that craziness he did before his fight with Lewis, but really, was he sorry? Seriously, was he? If he was, then why did he do it in the first place? Really, do you do offensive things on purpose, even when you're angry? Or when you're annoyed? Or anytime? Everything's okay until someone complains about it. Then you're sorry about it.
Death, taxes, and stupidity.
Anyways, i wrote my CSC1 test today. I hope I passed. It was really hard; way harder than the insurance license test I took a couple of years ago. If I didn't pass, it was probably by a few marks, in which case I deserve to fail, because there were about 5 questions that I remember reading in the book but I couldn't remember the answer, or I couldn't distinguish between things that I should be able to distinguish between. Anyways, the test was 100 multiple choice questions, and we had 2 hours. So, it completely baffled me as to why the girl beside me only answered 72 questions. I was getting up to leave and the proctor came by to get the my test and the girl's as well. The girl sort of tried to pull the test back or something. I seriously felt like giving that girl a Mo "what?". She had a 10 minute warning, so she should have just guessed on the ones that she hadn't finished. Man, I just couldn't believe it.
Death, taxes and stupidity.
I have this feeling that the next few weeks are gonna be chaos. And not chaos in the "on no, there are too many people getting onto the subway and I can't get a seat" sense, but chaos in the "holy crap, there's a Skydome-sized bat-leopard flying/running around Toronto eating everyone's arms" kind of chaos. I've been in a kind of cocoon because of the CSC, and I was quickly brought back to planet earth today, when I was told that I have 3 tests, 5 major assignments, and 5 exams in the next 3 weeks. Nice. And the lovely kid from P-ville gave me one of those lectures that you give to stupid people in your group. You know how you talk to them as if they're in grade 2 and they don't really understand things easily, so you talk to them very clearly, and remindi them of promises they made, and how big boys and girls do their work on time and are responsible? Ya, I got one of those, cause I'm, unfortunately, STPD.
Death, taxes, and stupidity.
